LSSL 5391 Podcast

Podcasts were somewhat new for me.  I had heard about podcasts and listened to a few as well, but for this assignment, I was able to make a podcast with two other classmates.  I have to say it was quite an interesting experience.  The first thing we did was research various podcasting apps to see which one we liked best.  Zoom was first.  We thought it would be easier to use but had some issues with it.  Then we looked into Audacity. Just like with Zoom, it was a little complicated to use and also it did not offer options such as video podcasting.  Finally we ended up with Riverside.fm.  This app turned out to be really user-friendly so we decided to go with it.  We were able to create accounts at no cost and were able to use it with ease.  We did encounter a couple of challenges but they had to do more with finding the time to get together.  We also had to do a couple of runs, which took longer than expected.  Either sound was missing or in one instance, there was a person missing from the recording.  Overall it was a great learning experience.  I do see how integrating podcasts into the library could be of great benefit.  Great discussions could be held between students and the librarian.
