LSSL 5391 Animoto and QR Codes

  • The Day the Crayons Quit is one of my favorite books to read to my students.  In addition to enjoying the comical story, students learn how important communication is and how we should always consider other people's feelings.

Poor Duncan just wants to color. But when he opens his box of crayons, he finds only letters, all saying the same thing: His crayons have had enough! They quit! Blue crayon needs a break from coloring all those bodies of water. Black crayon wants to be used for more than just outlining.  And Orange and Yellow are no longer speaking—each believes he is the true color of the sun. What can Duncan possibly do to appease all of the crayons and get them back to doing what they do best?

Below is a book trailer I've created on this amazing story.  Enjoy!

QR codes are an easy and excellent way to reach an intended audience.  QR codes

can be used in the library in a variety of ways.  As we all know, most libraries

are understaffed and QR codes can definitely help with that problem.  Displaying QR

codes throughout the library that answer “frequently asked questions” can assist both

students and librarians.  Another way QR codes can be utilized is to promote certain

books.  These codes can be linked to book trailers and/or other information that will

interest the reader.  In addition, QR codes can also be used to promote the library’s

events and social media pages.  It can be a fun way to keep patron’s up to date with the

library.  Lastly, QR codes can be used to launch activities, such as scavenger hunts,

and/or contests.
